On 25th July 2012, Pastor Kong Hee and four others from the City Harvest Church (CHC) were all charged for conspiracy to commit a criminal breach of trust.

That morning itself, Pastor Kong Hee posted a statement on his Facebook, asking Jesus to be his ‘shepherd’.

As of today, CHC’s ex-finance chief was charged as well, making her the sixth person to face criminal charges over the recent issue.

It has been said that at least 23 million Singapore dollars was inappropriately used to fund the pop music career of Kong’s wife, Sun Ho.

The funds were claimed to be used as bond investment with Xtron Productions, while $11 million was another company called PT The First National Glassware.

It is believed that  another 26.6 million Singapore dollars of church funds was used to cover the traces of the previous funds, which overall amounts to close to 50 million Singapore dollars. (50 million dollars!!! How much can the general public benefit from it if the amount is used on them?)

Up till now, the team of six led by Pastor Kong Hee have yet to plead guilty.

The offence of criminal breach of trust carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail, and/or a fine. For the charge of falsifying accounts, the accused may be punishable with a life sentence, or jail of up to 20 years and a fine.
